VARUN electric bike – models from the folding S20 to the X-Plorer Raptor at Wheelyshop
VARUN builds electric bikes with a powerful motor, removable battery and dual disc brakes, with a focus on commuting, hills and terrain. At Wheelyshop you will find several VARUN models: folding 20-inch bikes (S20-1, S20-1 Plus, S20-2 Pro, C20-1 Pro), 27.5-inch bikes for city and country roads (M27-1 Pro, S700-1, S700-2), fat bikes with 26-inch tyres (M26-2 Plus, M26-2 Pro), the folding M26-3 Pro, the compact M24-1, the long-distance S26-1 and the powerful X-Plorer Raptor. Range spans 50 to 150 km, weight 21.25 to 50.4 kg and rated motor output 350 to 1,000 W. A VARUN electric bike suits you if you want more power and range than an ordinary city bike, but bear in mind that every model formally counts as a moped under EU rules – more on that below. At Wheelyshop you get free delivery on all electric vehicles, a 2-year warranty and spare parts for your VARUN.

Choosing the right VARUN electric bike – a guide to the models
Start with three questions: does the bike need to fold, how far do you ride per charge and how much power do you need on the hills.
Series and models: S20, M series, S700 and X-Plorer
The S20 series are the folding 20-inch bikes. The S20-1 has a 500 W motor (750 W peak), 48 V 13 Ah, 100 km of range and fat tyres; the S20-1 Plus adds rear suspension and a 50 kg rear rack. The S20-2 Pro is the top model with 60 Nm, 120 km of range, full suspension and a display with NFC and app, and the C20-1 Pro the lightest folding fat bike at 25.8 kg. The M series includes the M27-1 Pro, a 23.6 kg aluminium bike with 27.5-inch wheels, Shimano 21 gears and app, the compact M24-1 with 24-inch wheels, and the 26-inch models M26-2 Plus (750 W, 48 V 15 Ah), M26-2 Pro and the folding M26-3 Pro. The S700-1 and S700-2 are 27.5-inch bikes with a 500 W rear hub motor and 55 km of range, the S26-1 the long-distance model with 48 V 18 Ah and 150 km, and the X-Plorer Raptor a 1,000 W fat bike in moped style with 95 Nm, indicators and a horn. Range and battery in VARUN electric bikes
Almost all models use 48 V batteries of 7.8 to 20.8 Ah, that is 374 to 998 Wh; the exception is the M24-1 with 36 V 7.8 Ah (281 Wh). Stated range runs from 50 km (M24-1) through 55 km (S700 series, M26-3 Pro), 65–70 km (M26-2 Pro, M26-2 Plus) and 100 km (S20-1, S20-1 Plus, M27-1 Pro, C20-1 Pro) up to 120 km for the S20-2 Pro, 130 km for the Raptor and 150 km for the S26-1. The figures apply to pedal assistance in a low mode; in pure electric mode VARUN quotes 40–45 km for the M26-2 Plus, for example. Count on 60–75 percent of the stated range in reality, depending on assistance level, rider weight, temperature and hills. The battery is removable on every model and charges in 4–6 hours (4–5 hours on the S20-1 and S20-1 Plus). Compare with other brands under long-range electric bikes. Getting more kilometres out of every charge is covered in our guide on how to increase e-scooter and e-bike range.
Motor, torque and weight
Most VARUN models have a 500 W rated motor, 750 W peak output and 50–60 Nm of torque, rated for gradients of 25–30 degrees. The M24-1 is the simplest with 350 W and 45 Nm, the M26-2 Plus has 750 W and 62 Nm, the S26-1 stands out with 85 Nm and the X-Plorer Raptor tops the range with 1,000 W and 95 Nm. Weight follows power: the M24-1 weighs 21.25 kg and the M27-1 Pro 23.6 kg, the folding 20-inch models 25.8–32 kg, the M26-2 Plus 39 kg, the S26-1 35 kg and the Raptor 50.4 kg. Keep the weight in mind if the bike has to be carried up stairs. Maximum load is 150 kg on every model except the C20-1 Pro (100 kg) and S26-1 (170 kg).
Frame and comfort: folding VARUN electric bike, fat bike and suspension
Several models fold: the S20-1, S20-1 Plus, S20-2 Pro and C20-1 Pro with 20-inch wheels and the M26-3 Pro with 26-inch wheels. Fat tyres of 4.0 inches come on the S20-1, C20-1 Pro, S20-2 Pro, M26-2 Plus, M26-2 Pro and X-Plorer Raptor – good grip on gravel, snow and forest tracks. Full suspension comes on the S20-1 Plus, S20-2 Pro, M26-3 Pro and Raptor; the others have a suspension fork, often lockable. All have dual disc brakes and 7 gears, except the M27-1 Pro with 21. No model has a step-through frame, so check the recommended rider height: M24-1 for 135–175 cm, C20-1 Pro from 150 cm, the S20 series 158–185 cm and the M26-2 Plus, M26-2 Pro and S26-1 for 170–205 cm. You will find more wide-tyre models under fat bikes.
Rules in Europe for a VARUN electric bike
Under the EU-wide pedelec (EPAC) definition an electric vehicle only counts as a bicycle if the motor has a rated output of no more than 250 W, assistance cuts out at 25 km/h and any throttle only drives up to 6 km/h – then you can use the cycle lane without registration, and the helmet rules for cyclists in your country apply. All VARUN models have 350–1,000 W rated motors and a 32–45 km/h top speed, and most have a throttle for pure electric riding. They are therefore formally speed pedelecs or mopeds, even with the 25 km/h limiter active – the limiter does not change the classification. The moped class typically requires registration, insurance, a helmet and a driving licence on public roads, with the exact rules varying by country; otherwise they belong on enclosed private land. Check the EU road rules and safety overview for your country and add an approved helmet from our helmets. The EU rules on pedal assistance, throttles and speed limits are explained in our guide to electric bike laws in Europe.
Service, warranty and spare parts
Every VARUN model at Wheelyshop ships with free delivery and a 2-year warranty. The battery is removable on all bikes, easy to charge indoors and to replace if needed, and an ignition key is included on every model except the M26-3 Pro. Most models carry an IP65 rating against rain and splashes; the M27-1 Pro, M26-3 Pro, X-Plorer Raptor and S26-1 have IP54. Wear parts such as brake pads, tyres, inner tubes and chargers are in our spare parts portal, and customer service will help you find the right part for your VARUN electric bike based on model and serial number.
Frequently asked questions
Is a VARUN electric bike legal in Europe?
All VARUN models have 350–1,000 W rated motors and a stated top speed of 32–45 km/h, which under the EU pedelec rules makes them speed pedelecs or mopeds – not bicycles. The built-in 25 km/h limiter does not change the classification. On public roads that typically means registration, insurance, a helmet and a driving licence, depending on the country; otherwise they are for enclosed private land.
How far does a VARUN electric bike go on a charge?
Stated range is 50–150 km depending on the model: the M24-1 quotes 50 km, the S700 series 55 km, the S20-1 and M27-1 Pro 100 km, the S20-2 Pro 120 km, the X-Plorer Raptor 130 km and the S26-1 150 km. The figures apply to pedal assistance in a low mode; in practice you can count on 60–75 percent of that, less in pure electric mode and on hills.
Which VARUN electric bike is best for commuting?
If you need to fold the bike on the train or at the office, the S20-2 Pro with 120 km of range and full suspension or the lighter C20-1 Pro at 25.8 kg are good choices. If you would rather have a classic bike with big wheels, the M27-1 Pro at 23.6 kg with 21 gears and 100 km of range is the nimblest. Remember that every model is formally moped class in the EU.
Do VARUN electric bikes fold?
Several models fold: the S20-1, S20-1 Plus, S20-2 Pro and C20-1 Pro with 20-inch wheels and the M26-3 Pro with 26-inch wheels. Folded, the 20-inch models measure roughly 1,730 × 610 × 1,180 mm. The other models, such as the M27-1 Pro, S700 series, M26-2 Plus, S26-1 and X-Plorer Raptor, have a fixed frame.
Are spare parts and a warranty available for VARUN?
Yes, every VARUN model at Wheelyshop has a 2-year warranty and you will find wear parts such as brake pads, tyres, inner tubes, chargers and batteries in our spare parts portal. The battery is removable on every model, so it can be replaced separately. If you need help finding the right part, give customer service your model and serial number.
