Electric scooter and e-bike tools

Electric scooter and e-bike tools

Find tools for tyres, tyre pressure, fasteners and routine care of electric scooters and e-bikes. Choose for the job and your model: a pump, tyre lever and repair kit each serve a different purpose.

In short

  • Pumps and valve adapters: check valve type and access.
  • Tyre tools and patch kits: match the tyre construction.
  • Bits, multitools and stands: check size, torque and load capacity.

Buying guide: choose the right tools

Pumps and valve adapters

Check whether your tyre uses a Schrader or Presta valve and whether the pump head can reach it beside the rim. An adapter or valve extension may be needed; confirm compatibility with both the valve and pump.

A hand pump and an electric compressor offer different functions. Compare connections, pressure range and power source. Follow the tyre and vehicle instructions for inflation pressure, rather than the pump’s maximum rating.

Tyre levers and puncture repair kits

Tyre levers help remove a tyre; a repair kit addresses a particular type of damage. Check whether your wheel uses an inner tube, a tubeless tyre or a solid tyre. Inner-tube patches are not automatically suitable for tubeless or solid tyres.

Tools do not replace a worn tyre, damaged valve or the correct spare part. Check the tyre and rim instructions for suitable tools. Our separate tyre-changing guide covers the procedure.

Bits, multitools and screwdrivers

Choose the correct profile and size of hex, Torx or screwdriver bit. A multitool can help with small adjustments, but may not include every size needed for your particular model.

A precision electric screwdriver does not replace a torque wrench. Tighten structural fasteners according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Brake adjustment tools must suit the brake type; have a workshop check the work if you are unsure about operation.

Cleaning tools and repair stands

Brushes and cleaning tools help reach around wheels, the drivetrain and frame. Use products and methods approved by the vehicle manufacturer, and check exactly what each kit includes.

A bicycle repair stand must support the vehicle’s weight and clamp the frame appropriately. A bicycle stand does not automatically suit a scooter or heavy e-bike. Check its load limit and the manufacturer’s battery-handling instructions before lifting.

Frequently asked questions

Which tools do I need for my electric scooter?

Start with the job: a compatible pump for tyre pressure, correct bits for fasteners and tyre tools for tyre work. Check your model’s manual before selecting a kit; no single tool fits every model.

Can I use the same pump for an electric scooter and an e-bike?

Yes, if the valve connection, pressure range and access suit both. Check for Schrader or Presta valves and whether an adapter or extension is needed.

Do puncture repair kits work on every tyre?

No. Inner-tube kits, tubeless kits and other repair products serve different purposes. Check the tyre type, extent of damage and kit instructions. Inner-tube patches do not repair solid tyres.

Can I use a regular bicycle repair stand for my e-bike?

Only if it supports the weight and its clamp suits the frame. Check the stand’s load limit and the bicycle manufacturer’s lifting instructions. A parking stand is different from a repair stand.
