Choosing the right URLIFE electric bike – a guide to the models

The range covers three needs: the compact commuter, the city bike and the fat bike for gravel and forest. Here we go through the models, battery, motor and European rules.

The models: F1L, E26, E20, T16 and T2

The F1L is the folding model with 14-inch wheels, a 250 W motor, a 48 V 7.5 Ah battery and 64 km of stated range. At 24.5 kg it is the lightest in the range and suits riders of 150–170 cm. The E26 is the city bike with 26-inch wheels, a 250 W motor, a 48 V 10.4 Ah battery, 7 gears and 60 km of range.

The fat bikes have a 500 W rated motor and wide off-road tyres. The E20 has 20-inch wheels, a 48 V 13 Ah battery, 7 gears, 65 km of range and weighs 30 kg. The T16 is the compact fat bike with 16-inch wheels, the same 624 Wh battery, 100 km of stated range, full suspension and 32.5 kg. The T2 is the top model: a 749 Wh battery, 100 km of range, 1,500 W peak output, full suspension, a horn and 46.5 kg. Compare with all electric bikes and all fat bikes. Our practical tips to get more range from every charge apply to e-bikes too.

Range and battery in URLIFE electric bikes

All of them have a 48 V system and a removable battery that locks with a key, so you can charge indoors and leave the bike outside. Capacity goes from 360 Wh in the F1L via 499 Wh in the E26 and 624 Wh in the E20 and T16 to 749 Wh in the T2. Charging takes 4–6 hours for the E26, 5–6 for the F1L, 6–7 for the E20 and T16 and 7–8 for the T2.

The stated 60–100 km applies at the lowest assistance level, on smooth roads and with a light rider. Expect 60–75 percent in real everyday use – roughly 40–45 km for the E26 and F1L and 60–75 km for the T16 and T2. The highest riding mode, cold, headwind and hills pull the figure down.

Motor, torque and weight

The E26 and F1L have a 250 W rated motor with 750 and 500 W peak output respectively and 38 and 19 Nm of torque – enough for city hills of up to 15 degrees if you pedal along. The fat bikes have 500 W rated and 50 Nm in the E20, 58.2 Nm in the T16 and 60 Nm in the T2 for gradients and gravel roads even with the 120 kg maximum load.

On stairs you notice the weight: the F1L (24.5 kg) and E26 (27 kg) can be carried, the E20 (30 kg) and T16 (32.5 kg) are heavier, and the T2 (46.5 kg) is one you roll rather than lift.

Frame and comfort: folding, fat bike and suspension

The F1L is the only folding model, has an adjustable handlebar and fits in the car. The E26 with 26-inch wheels and 7 gears is the most bicycle-like, while the E20, T16 and T2 have wide off-road tyres that grip on gravel and snow. All of them have pneumatic tyres and mechanical disc brakes front and rear.

  • Full suspension: T16, T2 and F1L. Front suspension: E20 and E26.
  • Gears: 7 on the E26, E20 and T2; single-speed on the F1L and T16.
  • Lights front and rear: E20, T16 and T2; front light on the E26 and F1L.
  • Recommended rider height: 150–170 cm (F1L), 150–175 cm (T16), 160–180 cm (E26), 160–185 cm (E20 and T2).

Rules in Europe for a URLIFE electric bike

Across the EU an electric vehicle counts as a bicycle (pedelec or EPAC) if the motor is rated at no more than 250 W and assists only up to 25 km/h (throttle max 6 km/h). That means the cycle path without registration, while helmet rules vary by country. The E26 (250 W, assistance limited to 20 km/h on delivery) and F1L (250 W, limited to 25 km/h) meet the requirements and count as bicycles.

The E20, T16 and T2 have a 500 W rated motor and are therefore formally speed pedelecs or mopeds, despite the 25 km/h speed limiter – a limiter does not give bicycle class when the motor is stronger than 250 W. Public roads require registration, insurance, a helmet and a driving licence or moped permit; otherwise they are intended for enclosed private land. The details vary by country, so read more about road rules in the EU, and choose a helmet whatever the class. Read more in our guide to e-bike laws in Europe.

Frequently asked questions

Is a URLIFE electric bike legal in Europe?

Some models count as bicycles under the EU pedelec rules: the E26 and F1L have a 250 W rated motor and assistance up to 20 and 25 km/h respectively, so they may be ridden on the cycle path without registration. The E20, T16 and T2 have a 500 W motor and are formally moped class despite the 25 km/h speed limiter, which requires registration, insurance, a helmet and a driving licence or moped permit on public roads – otherwise enclosed private land. The details vary by country, so check your national rules.

How far does a URLIFE electric bike go on a charge?

The stated range is 60 km for the E26, 64 km for the F1L, 65 km for the E20 and 100 km for the T16 and T2. In practice you can expect 60–75 percent of that, depending on riding mode, terrain, temperature and rider weight. The T2 has the biggest battery at 749 Wh, the F1L the smallest at 360 Wh.

Which URLIFE electric bike is best for commuting?

If you combine with train or bus, the folding F1L at 24.5 kg is the obvious choice. If you ride the whole way on the cycle path, the E26 with 26-inch wheels, 7 gears and a 250 W motor is best, since it counts as a bicycle. If you want fat bike tyres in everyday life, the E20 is the lightest of the fat bikes, but bear in mind that it is moped class.

Is the URLIFE F1L foldable and do the fat bikes have suspension?

Yes, the F1L is the range's only folding model and also has an adjustable handlebar. Full suspension is found on the T16, T2 and F1L, while the E20 and E26 have front suspension. The fat bikes E20, T16 and T2 have wide pneumatic off-road tyres.

Are spare parts available for a URLIFE electric bike?

Yes. All models come with a 2-year warranty at Wheelyshop, and wear parts such as brake pads, tyres, inner tubes, chargers and batteries we help you with through the spare parts portal. The battery is removable on every model, which makes replacement and charging easy.
