Choosing the right electric scooter charger – guide
Three things decide whether a charger fits: the battery's voltage, the socket on the vehicle and how fast the battery may be charged. Below we walk through the sub-types, voltage, plugs and safe charging.
Sub-types of electric scooter charger
Original and model-specific chargers are the largest group. The original Ninebot charger and original Xiaomi charger deliver 42 V and 1.7 A to the 36 V models from the Ninebot ES1 to the G30 and from the Xiaomi M365 to the Pro 2, the original KuKirin G3 charger 58.8 V and 2 A with TÜV/GS marking, the VSETT/ZERO 60V charger 67.2 V for the Kaabo Mantis 10, VSETT 10+ and ZERO 10X, and the InMotion V11 / V11Y charger is the most powerful at 84 V, 2.5 A and 210 W for the unicycle. How to choose the right voltage for your electric scooter charger
The charger's output voltage is higher than the battery's nominal voltage, and that is the figure that has to match. A 36 V battery is charged at 42 V, 48 V at 53–54.6 V depending on the model, 52 V at 58.8 V, 60 V at 67.2 V and 72 V at 84 V. The Ninebot GT1/GT2 has its own 57.8 V charger. The KuKirin G2 Max takes 54.6 V while the G2 Master, G2 Pro, G3 and G3 Pro take 58.8 V – read your old charger or the compatibility list.
The amperage sets the charging time: the range goes from 1.3 A (Ninebot ZT3 charger) to 3.9 A (built-in Ninebot Max G3), and the KuKirin G3 Pro states around 6–8 hours at 2 A. Never choose more amps than the manufacturer specifies – the battery's BMS is designed for the original value.
Plug, cable and built-in charger
The plug on the vehicle side differs between brands: VSETT and ZERO use GX16 3-pin, the Ninebot E/C series DC 5.5 × 2.5 mm, older Xiaomi models DC 8 mm, the Xiaomi 4 and 4 Pro a magnetic connector, the INOKIM OXO a round charging plug and the InMotion V11 a 3-hole connector. If only the cable has failed on a Xiaomi, the DC cable is all you need.
The built-in chargers for the Ninebot G2, Max G3 and P65/P100 sit inside the scooter – you plug the mains lead straight into the vehicle, and if the unit fails you replace the spare part. More spare parts per model are available in the spare parts portal.
Safe charging of electric scooters and e-bikes in the EU
There is no specific law on chargers in the EU, but lithium batteries place demands on the person charging them. Use exactly the right voltage and plug – preferably an original charger with protection against overvoltage, short circuit and overheating, such as the VSETT/ZERO 52V and KuKirin G3 Pro chargers. Charge at room temperature and under supervision, not in direct sunlight or a hot storage room – the Ninebot E/C charger specifies max 40 °C and IP20, meaning a dry indoor environment. Never charge a battery that is damaged, swollen or wet, and unplug when the LED switches to green. The same advice applies to your e-bike charger, for example the one for the InMotion L8. Caring for your electric scooter charger and battery
Store the charger dry and cool – the VSETT/ZERO 60V charger specifies operation at 0–40 °C. Pull by the plug, not the cable, and keep the pins in the GX16 and DC connectors clean and straight. If the scooter will be parked for a long time, leave the battery at about 60%, check the level every month and top it up if it has dropped – follow the manual if it gives a different level. Red on the indicator means charging and green means fully charged.

Which electric scooter charger is best?
The one made for your model. Original chargers from Ninebot, Xiaomi, KuKirin, NIU and InMotion have exactly the right output voltage, the right plug and built-in protection, and most have an LED that shows when the battery is full. If you want to charge faster there are fast chargers for the Xiaomi 4 Ultra/4 Pro (2nd Gen), Navee S65/N65i, Xiaomi 4 Pro Plus/Max and Ninebot ZT3 – but only for the models listed.
How do I know which voltage my electric scooter charger should have?
Look at the label on your old charger or on the battery. A 36 V battery is charged at 42 V, 48 V at 53–54.6 V, 52 V at 58.8 V, 60 V at 67.2 V and 72 V at 84 V. Every charger we sell has a compatibility list with model names, so you can search for your scooter instead of counting volts.
Can you charge an electric scooter indoors?
Yes, there is no ban on it anywhere in the EU, and several chargers are rated IP20 and for max 40 °C, meaning they are intended for a dry indoor environment. Charge on a hard surface, under supervision and not in the bedroom, and unplug when the light turns green. A battery that is damaged, swollen or has got wet should not be charged at all.
Will an electric scooter charger also fit my e-bike?
Only if the voltage and plug match. The InMotion P1/P1F/P1D/P2/L8/L8F charger delivers 42 V and 2 A and is made for both InMotion's e-scooters and e-bikes in the series. The other chargers in the category are matched to electric scooters and the InMotion V11 unicycle, so always check the compatibility list before ordering for an e-bike.
