Buying guide
WindGuard neck warmer and balaclava for riding
A neck warmer and a balaclava cover different parts of your head. The WindGuard range includes both shapes, with plain and patterned options for cooler rides. Compare the garment's construction before choosing a design.
In short
- Neck warmers and balaclavas provide different coverage; check the product images.
- Product details specify polyester and one size, which do not guarantee identical fit.
- Choose a shape that works with your helmet and glasses.
- Check fabric thickness and care instructions for your chosen edition.
Choosing WindGuard: shape, coverage and fit
Neck warmer or balaclava?
A tubular neck warmer sits around the neck and can be pulled over the mouth and nose. A balaclava also covers the head and has a face opening. Black and several printed editions are shown as neck and face coverings, while Balaklava Edition includes a head section. Use the images for the selected variant; the word edition alone does not describe its construction.
Fit with a helmet and glasses
Check length, circumference and face opening where measurements are provided. One size means the garment is sold in one size, not that it fits everyone equally well. Check how the fabric sits around your nose, ears and neck, keeping your view clear. If worn underneath a helmet, it must still allow the helmet to fit and adjust correctly. Browse our helmets too.
WindGuard fabric and warmth
The product information specifies polyester, but the fabric name does not tell you its thickness or warmth. Check whether your selected variant has a lining and how much of the neck it covers. Choose according to the weather, ride length and your other clothing. A pattern or product name alone does not establish that a fabric is windproof or waterproof. For your hands, see our riding gloves.
Care and choosing an edition
Choose the colour or pattern on the product page and check that the image matches the selected variant. Follow the garment's care label; do not infer wash temperature or drying method from polyester alone. Let it dry before storing it. Find more seasonal equipment in our winter accessories.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a WindGuard neck warmer and balaclava?
The neck warmer sits around the neck and can be pulled over the lower face. A balaclava also has a section covering the head. Check the chosen variant's images for its exact shape.
Does one-size WindGuard fit everyone?
One size means a single size, not a guaranteed fit for everyone. Check measurements and the face opening where specified, and how the garment works with your helmet and glasses.
Are all WindGuard editions equally warm?
This has not been confirmed. Product information specifies polyester, but thickness, lining and coverage need to be compared for each edition.
How should I wash WindGuard?
Follow your garment's care label. If washing temperature or drying instructions are missing, ask for the instructions for that edition before washing.
