Mobility scooters for everyday journeys

Explore seated mobility scooters with tiller steering for everyday errands and travel. Compare the controls, seat dimensions, load limits and lifting weight for your needs. If you need joystick control, also compare our electric wheelchairs.

In short

  • This collection includes tiller-controlled mobility scooters with three or four wheels.
  • Compare the seat, foot space and controls before choosing.
  • Check turning radius, ground clearance and the surfaces permitted by the manufacturer.
  • For car transport, check both packed dimensions and the weight you need to lift.

How to choose a mobility scooter

1. Mobility scooter controls

Check how the exact model steers, brakes and adjusts speed. You should be able to reach and operate the tiller in a comfortable sitting position. A joystick-controlled wheelchair is a separate category; compare the controls and support you need rather than choosing by the category name alone.

2. Seat fit and load limits

Compare seat width, depth and height, armrests and foot space with the user's measurements. Check how you get on and off and which adjustments are available. Follow the manufacturer's limits for user weight and total load, including luggage where applicable. An occupational therapist can help with fitting when individual support is needed.

3. Three or four wheels?

Wheel count alone does not establish stability or manoeuvrability. Compare width, turning radius, permitted gradients, wheels and ground clearance. Four wheels do not automatically mean a model can tackle kerbs, gravel or side slopes. Follow its manual and measure doorways, lifts and the space needed to turn.

4. Range and charging

Use the range specified for the exact battery and version. Allow a margin for the return journey: load, temperature and surfaces affect the distance. Check charging time, battery weight and whether it can be removed for charging. Battery chemistry alone does not determine charging speed.

5. Folding mobility scooters and car transport

Folding and dismantling are different features. Check which parts fold or detach according to the manual, the packed dimensions and the heaviest part's weight. A folding model is not automatically easy to lift or small enough for your car. Consider storage and whether you need a ramp or lifting assistance.

6. Where you can use it

Check the exact version's vehicle classification and the rules for the country and route where you will use it. The collection name does not establish road approval. Your Europe provides an entry point to national road-rule information.

7. Compare your shortlist

Record the same measurements and features for each option. Ask for any missing details before purchasing. Explore the full Mobility collection or compare a joystick-controlled wheelchair.

Frequently asked questions

Which mobility scooter should I choose?

Choose by controls, seat dimensions, user weight and intended environment. Then check range, turning space and lifting weight for the exact model. Age or wheel count alone does not tell you which model fits.

Is a mobility scooter the same as an electric wheelchair?

In our store, this collection contains mobility scooters with tiller steering. Electric wheelchairs form a separate category, normally with joystick control. Compare the actual controls and seating support.

How do I check whether the seat fits?

Compare seat width, depth and height, armrests and foot space. Also consider getting on and off. Seek help with fitting if individual support is needed.

How far can a mobility scooter travel on one charge?

Check the range for the exact battery version. The manufacturer's stated distance can differ from your journey because of load, temperature and surfaces, among other factors. Allow a margin.

Can I take a folding mobility scooter in my car?

Compare the packed dimensions with your car's load space and check the weight you will actually lift. If it dismantles, ask for the heaviest part's weight. Folding does not automatically mean lightweight or suitable for every car.
