Bike trailer – 10 trailers for dogs, children and cargo at Wheelyshop
A bike trailer hitches behind the bicycle and lets you bring the dog, the children or your luggage in a stable and safe way. Here you will find eight trailers from Sepnine – five dog trailers, two child bike trailers and a cargo trailer for the seatpost – plus two trailers that are not pulled by a bicycle: a folding four-wheel camping wagon and an electric stair-climbing hand truck. Maximum loads range from 20 kg on the cargo trailer to 50 kg on the largest dog trailer, and all ten fold. The trailers are made for bicycles, mountain bikes and e-bikes designed to tow a trailer – not for electric scooters. At Wheelyshop every trailer comes with a 1-year warranty – see delivery terms at checkout.

Choosing the right bike trailer – guide
Who or what is coming along, how heavy the load is and whether the trailer will be used without a bicycle decide the choice.
Types of bike trailer: dog, child and cargo
There are five dog trailers. The Sepnine 10202NS is the largest with a 50 kg maximum load, room for dogs up to 91 cm in body length, 19-inch pneumatic wheels, a 360-degree front wheel and a handle with six positions. The Sepnine 10202B takes 40 kg, one large or two medium-sized dogs, and has 50 cm wheels and a parking brake. The Sepnine 20303B is the 2-in-1 model for small and medium-sized dogs (30 kg), the Sepnine 20303N is the lightest trailer in the range at 10.9 kg with a 23 kg maximum load and the Sepnine 10801 is the budget choice with removable 40 cm wheels. For families there is the Sepnine BT511 for one or two children with a 40 kg maximum load, a 5-point harness, a parking brake and a removable front wheel that turns it into a stroller, plus the Sepnine BT-609, a pure bike trailer weighing 13 kg with a 5-point harness. The Smart cargo trailer (Sepnine 8009T) is the cargo trailer with an aluminium frame and a 20 kg maximum load.
- The Cargo Wagon Pro is a four-wheel outdoor wagon in steel tubing and 600D Oxford with a 200 kg maximum load and 5-inch solid wheels for camping, beach and garden.
- The electric stair-climbing hand truck has a lithium battery and rubber tracks for white goods and boxes on stairs.
How to choose a bike trailer for a dog, child or luggage
Start with the maximum load and add a margin. For dogs, body length and height at the withers matter as much as weight: the 20303N offers 67 × 43 × 48 cm inside, the 10202B a full 80 × 57 × 66 cm. If the dog is also coming for walks, choose a 2-in-1 model with a swivelling front wheel (10202NS, 10202B or 20303B). For children, the 5-point harness, parking brake, mesh windows and rain cover set the models apart, and the BT511 is the only one with stroller mode from 6 months.
Hitch and fitting
Four of the dog trailers (10202NS, 20303N, 10202B and 20303B) use a universal hitch of 22 mm outer, 10 mm inner and 4.3 mm thickness that attaches at the rear axle and is secured with a strap. The Sepnine 10801, BT-609 and BT511 hitch with a tow bar and quick hitch at the rear wheel. The Smart cargo trailer attaches to the seatpost (at least 3 cm in diameter) and may need the extra bar if you have a rear rack or a rear wheel over 66 cm. Check that your e-bike is designed to tow a trailer, inflate the pneumatic wheels to the stated pressure (25–35 PSI depending on the model) and test ride without a load the first time.
Rules and safety for a bike trailer in the EU
A trailer is an accessory without a vehicle class of its own, but national road rules in EU countries cover bike trailers and children in trailers – including reflectors and lighting in the dark, and in some countries a minimum age for children; check the EU overview of road rules and safety for where you ride. The manufacturers state max 16 km/h behind the bike, and braking distance and turning radius increase with a trailer attached. Children must be strapped into the 5-point harness, the BT511 manual recommends at least 18 months in bike trailer mode, and a helmet is mandatory for children in many EU countries. The dog trailers are intended for pets only, and the dog is clipped to the internal safety leash. The Smart cargo trailer and the 10801 ship without a flag, so add one for visibility.
Care
Keep the right tyre pressure, wipe fabric and mesh with lukewarm water and let the trailer dry before folding it. Check the hitch, safety strap and the wheels' quick releases before every ride, and store the trailer folded indoors over the winter.
Warranty and service
Every bike trailer at Wheelyshop comes with a 1-year warranty – delivery terms are shown at checkout – and every Sepnine model has a PDF manual linked in the product description. If you tow heavy loads often, an electric cargo bike may be an alternative, and the electric bike range includes models for commuting with children. Add helmets for the whole family and keep an eye on accessories on offer.
Frequently asked questions
Which bike trailer is best for a dog?
It depends on the size of the dog. For large dogs up to 50 kg and 91 cm in body length the Sepnine 10202NS is the largest, while the 10202B holds one large or two medium-sized dogs. For small and medium-sized dogs choose the 20303B if you want 2-in-1 with walking mode, or the 20303N, which is the lightest at 10.9 kg.
How fast can you ride with a bike trailer?
The manufacturer states max 16 km/h when the trailer is towed behind the bike. Expect a longer braking distance and a wider turning radius, especially with a child or dog in the trailer, and slow down on descents and in corners.
Can you carry a child in a bike trailer in the EU?
Yes. National road rules in EU countries cover children in bike trailers and trailers in traffic, for example reflectors and lighting in the dark, and some countries set a minimum age. The child must sit in the 5-point harness and wear a helmet, which is mandatory for children in many EU countries. The BT511 manual recommends at least 18 months in bike trailer mode.
Will a bike trailer fit my e-bike or electric scooter?
The trailers hitch to the rear axle or seatpost of a bicycle and also fit e-bikes designed to tow a trailer – check your e-bike's manual. They are not made for electric scooters. The universal hitch is 22/10/4.3 mm, and the cargo trailer requires a seatpost of at least 3 cm.
Are there spare parts and accessories for the trailers?
Every Sepnine trailer has a PDF manual in the product description with an exploded view and assembly instructions, and hitches, safety strap and flag are included in the delivery on most models. Every trailer comes with a 1-year warranty, and helmets for the children are in our helmet collection.
