Choosing the right Hidoes electric bike – a guide to the models
The models meet very different needs: one you fold, one that rolls 150 km on a single charge and an electric dirt bike with 140 Nm. Here are the models, the technology and the rules so you get it right from the start.
Hidoes electric bikes model by model
Hidoes C5 is the light folding model: 22.4 kg, 14-inch pneumatic tyres, a 250 W motor (350 W peak), a 36 V 10.4 Ah battery, 50 km of range, cruise control and front suspension. Hidoes B6 Mini is the compact sibling with 16-inch off-road tyres, full suspension, 48 V 10.4 Ah, 55 km of range and 25 degrees of climbing ability at 34.65 kg. Hidoes B6 is the power model: 750 W rated and 1,200 W peak, 48 V 15.6 Ah, 70 km, 7 gears, full suspension and hydraulic disc brakes on 20-inch wheels. Hidoes B9 has the biggest battery in the line-up at 48 V 33.8 Ah (1,622 Wh), a 750 W motor, 150 km of range, indicators, dual charging ports and seven gears.
Hidoes G2 is not an electric bike but an electric dirt bike without pedals: 3,500 W, 140 Nm, 48 V 23 Ah, 70 km of range, full suspension, hydraulic disc brakes and indicators, controlled with a twist throttle and built for the track and private land. Range and battery in Hidoes electric bikes
The stated range applies to the lowest assistance level and flat ground; expect 60–75 percent in real mixed riding, so roughly 30–38 km for the C5 and 90–110 km for the B9. On throttle alone the figures drop faster – the B6 is rated at 40 km and the C5 at 28 km on pure electric power. The battery is removable on the B6, C5, B9 and G2, while the B6 Mini charges in the bike. Charging takes 5–9 hours depending on the model; the B9 has dual charging ports and two chargers in the box, which cuts the time considerably. Motor, torque and weight
The C5 and B6 Mini have 250 W rated output with 350 and 500 W peak respectively and 60 Nm, which is enough in town and for climbs of 15 and 25 degrees. The B6 and B9 have a 750 W rear hub motor with 60 and 65 Nm, carry 150 kg of load and are the choice if you live in hilly terrain. The G2 is in a league of its own with 3,500 W and 140 Nm. Weight follows power: 22.4 kg for the C5, 34.65 kg for the B6 Mini, 43 kg for the B6 and B9 and 53 kg for the G2 – if the bike has to go up stairs, the C5 is the obvious choice.
Frame, suspension and comfort
The frame is sporty and moped-like with a wide saddle, kickstand, mudguards and lights front and rear. All models have front suspension, and the B6, B6 Mini and G2 also have rear suspension that takes the edge off potholes and kerbs. The brakes are hydraulic discs on the B6 and G2, and disc brakes with E-ABS on the C5, B6 Mini and B9. The B6 and B9 have seven gears, while the C5 and B6 Mini are single-speed. Recommended rider height goes from 150–190 cm on the C5 to 170–210 cm on the B9. The C5 is the only folding model, no model is listed with a step-through frame and none comes with a rear rack.
Rules in Europe for a Hidoes electric bike
Across the EU an electric bike counts as a bicycle (pedelec or EPAC) only if the motor is rated at no more than 250 W, assists only up to 25 km/h and the throttle does not drive faster than 6 km/h. None of the Hidoes models meets all three requirements. The B6 and B9 have a 750 W motor, and their 25 km/h limiter does not change the classification. The C5 and B6 Mini do have 250 W, but a pure electric mode with a top speed of 32 and 35 km/h respectively formally makes them speed pedelecs or mopeds too. That means registration, insurance, a helmet and a driving licence or moped permit on public roads – otherwise only enclosed private land. Service, warranty and spare parts for a Hidoes electric bike
All models come with a charger, tool kit and manual; the B9 also comes with a pump, a lock and two chargers. Everyday maintenance you can handle yourself: tyre pressure, chain, brake pads and storing the battery cool and half charged if the bike stands for a long time. IP54 on the B6, B6 Mini and B9 and IPX5 on the C5 cope with rain, but never use a pressure washer.
