Electric scooter thumb throttle – model by model
Thumb throttles are available for Xiaomi (including Elite, 4 Lite 2nd Gen, 4 Pro/4 Lite and 5/5 Pro/5 Max), Ninebot (G30, G2, ES, E22/E25/E45, E2/E2 Pro/E2 Plus, F2/F2 Pro/F2 Plus and P65/P100) and KuKirin (G2/G3/G4, G2 Master, G3 Pro, G4 Max and M5 Pro). There are also thumb throttles for iScooter iX3/iX4, NAVEE N20/N30/N40, HX X6/X7/X8, NIU KQi 1/KQi 2/KQi 3, Kaabo Wolf Warrior GT Pro and InMotion P1/P1F/P2, the latter with a key. Throttle units, twist grips and finger throttles
Not every model uses a thumb throttle. There is a twist grip for Ninebot ZT3/ZT3 Pro, G3 and F3/F3 Pro, a throttle unit for Ninebot GT1/GT2 and KuKirin G2 Pro/G2 Max, and a finger throttle for Dualtron. On VSETT and ZERO the throttle is combined with the display and sold as one unit with an NFC card – in different versions for different models. Indicator switches, horn switches and ignition locks
Indicator and horn switches are available for KuKirin G2 Pro/G2 Max, G2 Master, G3 and G3 Pro, iScooter iX3/iX4, Ninebot G2, G2 Max, E2 Pro, E3/E3 Pro, F2 Pro and ZT3/ZT3 Pro, Xiaomi 5/5 Pro/5 Max, TEVERUN Blade Mini/Mini Ultra/Pro, Dualtron and VSETT 9/10+/11+. For the KuKirin G3 Pro there is also a motor and light switch, and for the KuKirin G3 Pro and G4 an electronic ignition lock with keys. Replacing an electric scooter throttle – step by step
Switch the scooter off before you start. Pull off the grip, loosen the bolt that clamps the thumb throttle to the handlebar and follow the cable to the connector. Photograph the cable routing, unplug the connector carefully and fit the new part the same way. Test the throttle with the wheel off the ground before riding. The one with your model name in the product title. Throttles are model-specific and even generations differ – the Xiaomi 4 Pro/4 Lite and the Xiaomi 5/5 Pro/5 Max use different thumb throttles. If a part fits several models, all of them are listed in the title, for example Ninebot E22/E25/E45.
How do I know my electric scooter throttle is broken?
Typical signs are that the scooter does not respond when you accelerate, that the power comes in jerks or that the lever no longer springs back. First check that the connector is seated properly. The same symptoms can come from the display or the controller – contact customer service if you are unsure.
