Product description
Product description
ENGWE ZIP – nimble electric bike for everyday city life.
The ENGWE ZIP is a compact and folding electric bike built for those who want to move through the city smoothly without letting the bike get in the way of daily life. It combines a 250W rear hub motor, torque sensor, hydraulic disc brakes and a removable 360Wh battery solution with a construction that folds quickly. With a range of up to 120 km, 16-inch tyres and a Shimano 7-speed drivetrain, the ENGWE ZIP works equally well for daily commuting and shorter errands and spontaneous rides. The result is an electric bike that is easy to use, store and take with you.
Foldable design that keeps pace with everyday life.
A commuter electric bike needs to work even when you are not in the saddle. The ENGWE ZIP uses ENGWE's three-fold design and can, according to the manufacturer, be folded in around three seconds. When folded, it takes up roughly the same floor space as a 20-inch suitcase, making it practical in smaller flats, at the office or in the car. The folding mechanism is combined with quick-release pedals and a folding handlebar stem system. This makes the folding electric bike particularly interesting for those who combine cycling with public transport or have limited storage space at home.
Low weight makes the electric bike easier to carry.
The ENGWE ZIP is a compact electric bike that weighs 16.9 kg without the battery and 19.4 kg with the battery fitted. This makes a significant difference when lifting the bike into a car, taking it in a lift or carrying it up a flight of stairs. The removable battery construction also means you can reduce the weight before lifting the bike. For the urban commuter who often needs to switch between riding, storing and transporting, the compact construction offers a flexibility that traditional electric bikes rarely provide.
Long range for flexible commuting.
The removable 36V 10Ah battery gives a capacity of 360Wh and uses LG cells with built-in BMS protection. ENGWE states a range of up to 120 km at assistance level PAS 1, while higher assistance levels naturally use more energy. For those looking for an electric bike with long battery life, this means fewer charges between daily journeys. A full charge takes approximately 6.5 hours. The battery can be removed for charging separately from the bike, which is convenient if the electric bike is stored in, for example, a cycle store or garage.
The battery also works as a portable power source.
The ENGWE ZIP stands out from many other compact electric bikes thanks to the battery's support for USB-C and PD 3.0. This means the removable battery can also be used to charge compatible electronic devices. For those who work on the go or spend long days away from home, the electric bike's battery can therefore serve an additional purpose. The battery is also supplied with a separate battery bag, making it easier to carry and protect when the bike is left parked.
Natural assistance with torque sensor.
The rear-mounted 250W motor delivers up to 40Nm of torque and provides assistance up to 25 km/h. Rather than simply reacting to whether the pedals are moving, this electric bike uses a torque sensor that detects how hard you are pedalling. The motor assistance can therefore adapt more naturally to your own effort. Three assistance levels make it simple to choose between lower energy use and more support. Together with the Shimano Tourney 7-speed drivetrain, you also have the option of adjusting the gears to suit speed, surface and gradient.
Comfort developed for the city's varied surfaces.
Small wheels make a folding electric bike compact, but can also make uneven streets more noticeable. The ENGWE ZIP addresses this with 16 x 1.95-inch urban pneumatic tyres and a suspension seatpost with multiple adjustment positions. The combination helps absorb vibrations from cobblestones, joints and smaller bumps. The adjustable construction is intended for cyclists of approximately 155–190 cm in height and the bike has a recommended maximum load of 120 kg. The riding position can therefore be adapted for both shorter everyday trips and longer commutes.
Hydraulic brakes for safer control.
In urban riding, controlled braking is at least as important as motor output. The ENGWE ZIP is therefore fitted with hydraulic disc brakes front and rear with 160 mm rotors. They give a clear and consistent braking feel when you need to slow down in heavy traffic or approaching a junction. This electric bike also has front and rear lighting for better visibility. Several central electrical components, including the battery, motor and controller, have an IPX5 rating according to the manufacturer's specifications, providing practical protection for normal everyday use.
Smart control directly from the handlebars.
On the handlebars is a 3.2-inch colour LCD display where you can monitor relevant information during the ride. The ENGWE ZIP also has Bluetooth and support for the ENGWE app, giving further options for managing the electric bike digitally. The handlebar height is adjustable and the ergonomic layout makes it easy to find a comfortable position. For those wanting a modern electric bike for commuting, the ZIP thus combines traditional bicycle control with practical digital features without making use unnecessarily complicated.
A compact electric bike built to be ridden every day.
The ENGWE ZIP suits those looking for a folding electric bike with long range, low weight and well-considered features for an active urban life. The quick folding, removable 360Wh battery, torque sensor and hydraulic disc brakes make it flexible both during and between journeys. With up to 120 km range, three assistance levels and Shimano 7-speed gearing, you get an electric bike that can be adapted to different parts of the day. Order the ENGWE ZIP from Wheelyshop and make commuting easier to combine with work, public transport and storage at home.

Laws & rules

Electric scooter
An electric scooter is considered a bicycle if it has a maximum speed of 20 km/h and a motor with a maximum of 250 W. However, it is important to note that the limit applies to the continuous (nominal) power – which means that the electric scooter may temporarily have a higher so-called peak power, for example up to 1000 W, as long as the nominal power does not exceed 250 W.
If the electric scooter exceeds 20 km/h in speed or has a motor with a nominal power of more than 250 W, other rules apply. The next classification is Moped class II and then Moped class IThere are technical requirements, such as braking systems, that must be met for an electric scooter to be classified as a moped.
Essentially, if it reaches up to 25 km/h it is considered Moped class II, while if the speed exceeds 40 km/h and the motor is stronger than 250 W, it is classified as Moped class I. For Moped class I, an AM driving license is required, the vehicle must be registered, and a helmet must be worn. Moped class II requires a driver's license and mandatory use of a helmet. If the electric scooter does not meet the requirements for a bicycle, Moped class I or II, it may not to be used on public roads.
Electric bike
For the requirements to apply to an electric bicycle, the motor must be limited to 250 W nominal (continuous) power and only assist pedaling up to 25 km/hThis means that the engine can temporarily deliver a higher so-called peak power, for example up to 1000 W, as long as the nominal power does not exceed 250 W. The electric bike must also be pedaled for the motor to work – it must not be able to drive on its own without the user's pedaling power.
Deviation from these requirements results in the vehicle being classified as moped, which entails other technical requirements, registration requirements, driving license and insurance.
We strongly recommend the use of a helmet, especially if the driver is under 15 years old, although it is not mandatory.
