Product description

ENGWE O20 Boost – folding electric bike with up to 140 km range.

The ENGWE O20 Boost is a compact, well-equipped electric bike for anyone who wants to combine long range, natural pedal assistance and easy storage. The 250 W hub motor works together with a torque sensor and delivers up to 75 Nm of torque, giving responsive assistance as you pedal. The top speed is up to 25 km/h.

The large removable 48 V 15 Ah LG battery with 720 Wh provides a stated range of up to around 140 km with pedal assistance. Add a folding 6061 aluminium frame, Shimano Altus 8-speed gearing, hydraulic disc brakes, hydraulic front suspension and puncture-protected 20 × 2.125-inch tyres, and you get a versatile electric bike for both commuting and longer rides.

250 W hub motor with a powerful 75 Nm.

The ENGWE O20 Boost uses a 48 V hub motor with 250 W rated power. The motor delivers up to 75 Nm of torque and is designed to give clear assistance when accelerating, on longer distances and when riding uphill.

The stated climbing ability is around 10°. Actual performance depends on factors such as rider weight, battery level, surface and gradient. The top speed is limited to 25 km/h.

Torque sensor for natural pedal assistance.

One of the O20 Boost’s most important features is its torque sensor. It detects how much force you apply to the pedals and adapts the motor assistance to your own pedalling.

The result is a more natural riding feel, with assistance that responds to how you actually ride. The system offers five levels of pedal assistance, making it easy to choose between lower assistance for maximum range and stronger support when you want to reduce your own effort.

Up to around 140 km range.

The ENGWE O20 Boost is designed for long distances with pedal assistance. The stated maximum range is around 140 km in favourable conditions.

The manufacturer’s riding tests state around 141 km at PAS 1, around 108 km at PAS 3 and around 80 km at PAS 5. This clearly shows how the selected assistance level affects range. Temperature, rider weight, terrain, tyre pressure and riding style also affect how far you can actually ride.

48 V 15 Ah LG battery with 720 Wh.

The removable battery has a capacity of 48 V 15 Ah, equivalent to 720 Wh, and uses LG 21700 battery cells. The battery also has an integrated BMS that helps monitor and protect the battery system.

As the battery is removable, it can be taken off the bike and charged separately. This is practical if the bike is kept in a garage, shed or somewhere without a power socket close by.

3.5-hour fast charging.

The included 54.6 V 4 A charger gives a charging time of around 3.5 hours. This is a clear advantage if you use the electric bike often and want to reduce the time between longer rides.

The combination of a 720 Wh battery and a more powerful 4 A charger makes the O20 Boost well suited to regular commuting and longer trips.

Shimano Altus with eight gears.

The O20 Boost is equipped with a Shimano Altus 8-speed drivetrain. The rear derailleur is a Shimano RD-M310, combined with Shimano SL-M315-8R shifters.

The eight mechanical gears make it easier to adapt pedalling resistance to speed and terrain. Together with the torque sensor and the five assistance levels, you get good control over how much effort you want to put in yourself.

Hydraulic front fork with 50 mm travel.

At the front there is a hydraulic suspension fork with around 50 mm of travel and adjustable lockout. The suspension helps absorb minor bumps and vibrations from uneven tarmac, gravel roads and other varied surfaces.

When riding on smoother roads, the lockout function can be used to adjust how the fork behaves. The model has no rear suspension.

20 × 2.125-inch puncture-protected tyres.

The ENGWE O20 Boost uses 20 × 2.125-inch pneumatic Urban Hybrid tyres with puncture protection. They combine a relatively compact wheel size with a tread that suits both city riding and lightly varied surfaces.

The wheels have double-wall aluminium rims with 36 spokes. The combination of pneumatic tyres and front suspension contributes to a more comfortable and stable ride.

Dual-piston hydraulic disc brakes.

Front and rear, the bike has hydraulic disc brakes with two pistons. The brake rotors are 160 mm on both wheels.

The hydraulic system gives easily modulated braking and suits an electric bike that can carry a total rider weight of up to 150 kg.

Folding 6061 aluminium frame.

The O20 Boost has a compact step-through frame made of 6061 aluminium alloy. The frame folds, making the bike easier to store at home or transport by car.

When unfolded, the bike measures around 1540 × 620 × 1130–1230 mm and weighs around 26.5 kg. The handlebar is adjustable and the seat post offers several height positions, making it easier to find a suitable riding position. The recommended rider height is around 155–190 cm.

Colour LCD display with Bluetooth and ENGWE app.

A centrally mounted 3.5-inch colour LCD display sits on the handlebar. The display is developed by ENGWE and has Bluetooth for connecting to the ENGWE app.

Through the app connection, compatible digital functions and vehicle information can be used directly from a smartphone.

ENGWE Bike Tracker for iOS and Android.

The ENGWE O20 Boost comes with the ENGWE Bike Tracker. The system is compatible with both iOS and Android and provides an extra way to keep track of the bike’s location via a compatible device.

The tracker complements the bike’s app connection and is particularly practical for an electric bike that is used regularly for commuting and parked in different places.

Different IP ratings for electrical components.

The ENGWE O20 Boost uses different IP ratings for different parts of the electrical system. The wiring is rated IPX7, while the display and lights are rated IPX6.

The motor and controller are rated IPX5, while the battery box is rated IPX4. This means the various components have different levels of protection against water exposure and should be treated according to their respective rating.

The bike should not be submerged in water or cleaned with a pressure washer aimed directly at the battery box, motor, connectors or other electronics.

Lights and practical equipment.

The O20 Boost has both front and rear lights. The headlight provides 40 lux, and both the front and rear lights are K-Mark certified.

The bike also comes with front and rear mudguards, a rear rack and a centre-mounted kickstand. The rear rack has a stated maximum load of 15 kg, giving practical space for everyday luggage.

Choose the ENGWE O20 Boost for range and flexibility.

The ENGWE O20 Boost combines a 250 W hub motor with 75 Nm of torque, a torque sensor and five levels of pedal assistance. The removable 48 V 15 Ah LG battery with 720 Wh provides up to around 140 km range and can be charged in around 3.5 hours.

With Shimano Altus 8-speed gearing, hydraulic disc brakes, 20 × 2.125-inch puncture-protected tyres, 50 mm hydraulic front suspension and a folding aluminium frame, you get a well-equipped electric bike for both everyday use and longer rides. Order the ENGWE O20 Boost from Wheelyshop and choose a folding electric bike that puts long range, comfort and practicality first.

Laws & rules

EU-wide rules
  • Electric bikes: under Regulation (EU) 168/2013 a pedal-assisted bike with a motor of max 250 W that cuts out at 25 km/h is a bicycle in every EU country – no registration, licence or insurance. Anything more powerful or faster is a moped (L1e) with type approval, registration, licence, insurance and helmet requirements.
  • Electric scooters: e-scooters are excluded from the EU regulation, so each country sets its own rules on speed, power, minimum age, helmets, insurance and registration. In most countries the limit is 20–25 km/h.
  • More powerful models: a scooter that exceeds your country’s limits may only be used on private or enclosed land.
